James Hodgson represents Australia in Nations Cup, San Francisco

MYC Youth member James Hodgson takes on some of the world’s best Match Racers in the 2019 World Sailing Nations Cup Grand Finale at St Francis Yacht Club, San Francisco, starting Thursday this week.

James (left) and his team of Ryan Wilmot, Charlie Gundy and Harry Hall, qualified to represent Australia when he won the Australian Open Match Racing Championship last September, representing the Mooloolaba Yacht Club.

World Sailing invite the two top ranked National Champions from each Region to compete for the Nations Cup. James will be competing in his first Grade 1 International competition and with a World Ranking of 28, he is 7th ranked of the ten skippers from France, Estonia, Italy, Russia, USA, South Africa, New Zealand, Japan and Brazil.

James says, “I am looking forward to sailing in San Francisco and can’t wait to race against some of the world’s best. As a team, we can’t wait for the experience the regatta will provide us.”

Racing starts early Thursday morning AEST and MYC wish James and his team all the best.
