RC of Sailing Members Update, March 2018
On the 19th March MYC and SCYC held a very successful interclub meeting of boat owners and skippers involved in racing. The clear message of the evening was “Two clubs, One fleet”. There was unanimous agreement that the clubs should sail together as a single fleet using the same and agreed Start / Finish line using the same courses.
Clubs representatives will continue to meet and work together ensuring we sail using agreed upon Sailing Instructions and develop a common Sailing Programme.
To that end I have revised MYC’s Sailing Instructions to reflect agreed changes to Start Times as well as confirming and clarifying the Start / Finish Line location and Starting and Finishing instructions.
In addition, I have revised the 2017 – 2018 Sailing Programme from March 2018 showing the presently agreed programme.
The Revised Sailing Instructions and Revised Sailing Programme have been posted to the MYC website today go here. Members should particularly take note of Attachments A and B where the specific changes to starting and finishing are detailed. Changes are effective immediately.
Due to recent inclement weather and bar conditions our sailing activities have been severely curtailed in order not to expose crew to increased risk of injury nor boats to costly damage. Hopefully we will see a change in conditions soon so that we can return to our normal sailing events.
Safe sailing to all.

Mark Coghlan
