Vale Richard Robinson
It is with great sadness we report the passing last Friday of former club member Richard Robinson.
Our older club members will no doubt remember the larger-than-life character that moved to Mooloolaba from Sydney.
He was for many years an active offshore and harbour racer, with his variously quirky named yachts, as a member of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia before retiring with his wife Jill to the Coast in the late 90s.
Richard was a club member and an important contributor to the club’s activities, helping drive the house functions, as well as supporting the Sydney Mooloolaba Yacht Race and Etchells Winters volunteer teams for many years until age and illness slowed him down.
With a red wine in hand and a cheeky comment to share, Richard will remain in our memories as a one-of-a-kind gentleman who will be sorely missed by all who knew and sailed with him.
