Join the MYC as an Active Sailing Member

The MYC supports sailing members from youth through to adult.  The club is primarily a sailing club which encourages racing at all levels and abilities. The club‘s motto is “Sailing, Fun and Friendship”. Our sailing and social activities reflect this motto.

Every aspect of the club is reliant on the huge group of volunteers and the spirit of camaraderie among all members and our supporters.

Members meet several times a week – on Wednesdays and weekends for fun and fleet races; Thursdays are Thirsty Thursdays at the clubroom where members gather to mull over the latest sailing and local news.  Every second Friday during the summer months is Rum Runner’s in the Elliott 6’s on the river in front of the clubroom from 4pm (sign on at 3.30pm sharp).

Individuals and organisations wishing to provide additional support to the club are always welcome!

Support is welcome in the form of donations as well as discounted services and products. Join the MYC and be recognised for being a part of a great Sunshine Coast institution – over 50 years of Sailing, Fun and Friendship.

Consider getting some sailing lessons to start or to improve your existing skills with the MYC’s Discover Sailing program.

The MYC clubroom is located at the Mooloolaba Marina, 123 Parkyn Parade in the Marina’s Club’s Precinct down by the river.

  • Wednesday afternoon sailing is a great way to start your open-water sailing experience with the MYC.

Come to clubroom at 11.30am or 11am during Winter – April to August and sign on to crew. Bring shoes, hat, sunscreen and water. We are out for the afternoon and return to the clubroom for a social prizegiving where there is usually lots of chatter, tall stories and laughter alongside a few cool ales.

  • If you can’t make a Wednesday, check the club calendar to see what event is on a Sunday. If you want to race on Sunday afternoon and it’s a normal race day, then sign on at the clubroom at 11.30am or 11am during Winter – April to August.
  • To check if the fleet are sailing any day, call the club on 0413 227 013 !
  • Register for SailPass before you starting racing with the MYC. It’s how non-members can go sailing at your club (limit of 3 sailing experiences).

Learn to sail

If you are still not sure, maybe you want to do some sailing lessons to start. In addition to the MYC’s Discover Sailing program, other learn to sail programs are offered by Maroochy Sailing Club (junior/youth dinghies) at Maroochydore and Sunshine Sailing Australia (RYA) at Mooloolaba.
