Entries open for rescheduled Women’s Regatta

The MYC’s Mooloolaba Women’s Keelboat Regatta has been re-scheduled following its postponement last month due to the QLD Covid lockdown. It will now be held from Friday, October 29 to Sunday 31 on the challenging short-course Mooloolah River on the Sunshine Coast.

“We started the regatta last month with a great afternoon of social sailing. We were – literally – on the start line for the start of the serious racing on Saturday when we heard we were going into lockdown. It was pretty devastating to call the regatta off at that point, when we had crews from around the state and so much effort had gone into the organizing,” said MYC Commodore and race skipper, Tanya Kelly.

“So we’re super excited to be able to re-schedule and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the Sunny Coast next month.”

There are still limited spots available for crews of three or four to compete on the MYC’s fleet of Elliott 6 keelboats, over two days of fleet racing plus training sessions and social racing on the Friday.

“If you have a crew already, sign up. If you’re on your own, let us know and we’ll try to match you up with a boat,” says Tanya. “It’s a really fun, collaborative – yet competitive! – weekend’s sailing, and we’re looking forward to sharing our idyllic sailing venue with returning teams and new contenders.”
