RC of Sailing – Hawkwind Trophy Race Update

Unfortunately, WHS Race #4 – Hawkwind Trophy Race scheduled in May had to be abandoned due to the sea state and Mooloolah River bar conditions.

The Sailing Committee consider this trophy race as a premier event of the MYC sailing season. We have decided to now have WHS Race #5 on 10 July scheduled on the Sailing Calendar designated as the Hawkwind Trophy Race for the 2021-2022 season.

Skippers and boat owners are encouraged to make their boats available even if not regular Sunday sailors. We also need women to come forward to helm regardless of offshore experience – the helm is not required to skipper the boat. More than one woman may helm throughout the race, but one should be designated as the principal helm for the trophy.

Skippers, please contact the club, Suzanne or me as soon as possible to indicate if you will be entering your boat. Any women interested in helming or being crew should do likewise and we will allocate you to a boat if you are not already associated with a specific offshore boat.

This is a special club event so please get involved.
