RC of Sailing Members Update, March 28

The unfortunate weather and bar conditions over the last 6 weeks or so have seen most sailing days being cancelled or postponed. With any luck autumn and winter sailing conditions will be much better.

MYC and SCYC have agreed that when the BOM has issued a dangerous bar crossing alert for the Mooloolah River bar discouraging recreational vessels from crossing the bar it would be very unwise of either club to propose that keelboats cross the bar. Therefore, we have decided to postpone races under these circumstances.

We have issued an updated Sailing Calendar for the remainder of this 20-21 season which is available to view and download from the MYC website.

There are 2 upcoming events that I hope will attract a good fleet and draw your attention to:

(i) Sunday, 11th April – LHS Race (Hawkwind Trophy).

(ii) Saturday, 1st May – Hart Cup (Manly to Mooloolaba Race) hosted by WMSC. WMSC have published the NOR and entry is now open. I would strongly encourage you to get a crew together and participate in what I believe is the best sailing event of the year on our calendar.

WMSC are also hosting a Mooloolaba to Mud Island Race for the return trip on Monday, 3rd May.

I am planning for myself and Ocean Warrior to return to the water for the Hawkwind Trophy on the 11th April – I hope to see you on the water.
