RC of Sailing Members Update, November 12
Cancellation of Short Course Series 2020-2021
Good morning MYC Boat Owners/Skippers,
You may recall that there was agreement at the “Interclub Meeting between MYC and SCYC for Boat Owners” in July 2019 for “more windward/leeward courses on Sundays”.
The Combined Sailing Committee (CSC) scheduled a Short Course Series (SCS) of such races through the 2019-2020 Season. However the series was not supported and there were no races run (due to insufficient entries).
The CSC, by request, again scheduled a SCS for the current 2020-2021 Season. This included an option to incorporate a youth helm series. Recently each club wrote to owners/skippers asking for expressions of interest in the SCS for this Season. The result was an overwhelming absence of interest. Very, few boats indicated that they would take part in the Series. Hence the Rear Commodores of the two clubs have agreed that:
THE SHORT COURSE SERIES FOR 2020-2021 IS CANCELLED.
As a result there will be no club event this Sunday 15 November, i.e. Sunday will be a Lay Day.
An amended Sailing Calendar will be revised to reflect the cancellation of the remaining SCS events where we may be able to insert resail or other events.
PS WAMS yesterday saw 10 boats in the fleet enjoying a beautiful day on the water. Thank you to those skippers who were able to take out one or more passengers to enjoy a great day on the bay – it really helps to enhance our club to tourists and locals alike.
Regards,
Mark Coghlan, RC Sailing
