Stevo’s Blog, February 22
Hi again.
The surf is up and sailing is down. The Pilot boat was seen circling the Mooloolah River mouth three times yesterday to gain a safe entry. Thus the no sailing notice. Had an enjoyable weekend last weekend in Sydney watching the SailGP 50’s sail around the harbour. To see a craft doing 30 knots in 10 knots of breeze is quite unbelievable but we saw it.
On the return trip back from the event discussions were raised about more club social activities involving members in a group going to like events. Two events that come to mind are the start of the Sydney Hobart and the Wooden Boat Festival in Tasmania. We will keep you informed with any upcoming closer social events.
Which brings to mind Friday, 1 March evening after Rum Runners is a planned get together to bring new faces into the club and show people what the club is about and hopefully attract new members, volunteers and crew. So remember the date and bring someone along you think would to be part of the club. Next Friday sees the Elliott6 Rum Runners series start up again after replacing all the standing and running rigging etc in preparation to introduce an Mooloolaba bay programme within the MYC.
The new dock has been fitted in front of the Wharf Tavern leaving the old positions of Whale One on the outside of the Elliott pontoon available for tie ups for Rum Runners, WAMS , SAMS and Elliott6 training programs.
All good within the club.
Cheers Stevo
