Stevo’s Blog – great sailing and members social to look forward to
Hi All,
Last Wednesday saw another light day with winds under 10 knots. A work out to the Gneerings saw State of the Ark first, Witchy Woman and Margarita Pearl.
On the run down to the island Roger Ramjet picked up the pace and was able to catch Mystique1 and State of the Ark. On this run, Crackajack retired with the winds too light for her. Shiraz was a late starter reading the course wrong and was never able to catch up to the frontrunners. 1st Witchy Woman, 2nd Margarita Pearl and 3rd Roger Ramjet.
Friday’s Rum Runners was another light day with some lucky breaks and good sailing. 1st was David Turton, 2nd Scooter and 3rd Casey Sutherland. A good crowd enjoyed so come on down and join the social side of the afternoon.
The Youth team competed in Sydney in some strong winds and faired well running in 3rd overall in the Sharp Australian youth Match Racing Championships. The frontrunners were rated 10th in the world and 2nd was rated 25th in the world. Well done the combined team with James Hodgson the skipper ranked 148th in the world. That ranking will change with the results.
Sunday saw a text sent out to gauge interest in the afternoon sail. Rain and light winds saw no interest so a crowd gathered in the Wharf tavern for the badge draw.
This Saturday night will be huge with the guys from Multihull Yacht Club of Queensland in town after racing up to Mooloolaba and living it up at The Wharf Tavern. They are then going to join us on the start line on Sunday for the start of their race back to Moreton Bay and beyond.
A Member’s social afternoon and night has been planned for the 12th November at a venue in Diddillibah. You can camp over, its BYO, food will be available and the bands are Monserat, Darrren Coggan and Los Gringos. All for $40 pp. Will be a great night for the Jimmy Buffett parrot head party. To book call Rita on 54776195 or 0417793254. Let Rita also know if you want transport and if you intend camping.
See ya all Stevo !
