Hi All,
Been a busy couple of weeks with the Etchells foremost. What a regatta even though the numbers were down to 30 entries and probably due to the worlds on so soon, the spirit and competition was second to none. And the overall winner was local Dave Turton with former local Josh Torpy and Julian Plante. The Turton crew won convincingly with a race to spare. A rare event with the Etchells. Our other local at 9th was Trevor Martin with James Hodgson on the helm and Josh Marks. Well done everybody.
The week unfolded with the usual fun sails and last Wednesday was a drifter with the race shortened after the Gneerings due to lack of wind.
Sunday saw the women’s helm race with 4 yachts from Mooloolaba competing. The overall winner was Suzie Rasmussen on Tanu, 2nd Suzanne Mabbott on Sea Bass and 3rd Kerry Teed on Blue Eagle. Bringing up the rear was Kerry Smith on Roger Ramjet. Well done ladies and a special BIG thankyou to the owners of the yachts that so kindly allow this event to take place.
This Sunday is the Blue Water race incorporating the Brian and Trent Anstee Memorial Race. For those of you who may be new to the MYC, Brian Anstee and later son, Trent were staunch supporters and competitors of the Mooloolaba Yacht Club. Please be there to show your support to the Anstee family who were involved with the MYC since its conception. There will be finger food back at the MYC at 4pm compliments of the Anstee family.
See you there. Stevo
