Hi again ALL !
Go away for a few days and whammo!! The MYC rolls along and the events and news builds to a point where we are now a bit late.
Firstly; MYC has been represented at the Arafura Match Racing Regatta in Darwin and news came through today that James Hodgson and crew of James Beverage, Emily McGregor, Stuart Kennedy and India Howard have won the regatta. The team came through the whole of the regatta without dropping a race and were elated at the final result. James was interviewed, thanked the crew and the Mooloolaba Yacht Club, wearing the 50th anniversary MYC shirt. A very proud moment for all.
This weekend we see the arrival of sailing clubs from Southport, Royal Queensland and Wynnum Manly all racing to Mooloolaba and being hosted by the Mooloolaba Yacht Club. The races up will mean the finishes will be staggered and apart. Southport starts Friday night while RQ and Wynnum Manly start Saturday morning. The MYC will be open Saturday afternoon with extended trading hours to accommodate the yachts arriving.
On Sunday sign on at 9.00 am for the start of the Brian and Trent Anstee memorial race that will incorporate the Southport yachts returning home. The MYC yachts will peel off at the Caloundra Fairway mark to continue their Memorial race while the Southport yachts race home. Should be loads of fun and looking forward to a great day on Sunday.
As usual, the prizes will be donated by the Anstee Family so please support this great MYC family.
Royal Queensland yachts will start on Monday, 6 May at 9.30 am in the Commodores Ocean Classic Cup and return to Manly.
Cheers Stevo
