Tune into Ahoy! Episode 4 with Tanya Kelly

Tune into Episode 4 of Ahoy! We talk to MYC Women’s Sailing Program lead Tanya Kelly about how the program is progressing and what is in store for existing and new members in the coming months.

The program has been running in the club for about five years, but in recent times the structure and delivery of it has been updated to meet the demand from the Coast’s women sailors who want to become much more involved in sailing as competent crew and helms.

The program has embraced sailors from age 16 to 60. Some are already highly skilled sailors while others have started from scratch.

The program now encompasses both skill development and performance training.

As result of these women driving the program to greater outcomes, club teams have competed in state and national competitions in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and soon in the Northern Territory.

They have bought home trophies and a greater desire to keep improving their skills and ultimately their enjoyment of sailing.

In 2019 the program won the Australian Sailing (Qld) She Sails Award.
